We all have experienced this ; I'll post here everything we know of that problem :


  • It's not symetric. When A can't connect to B, maybe B can connect to A.
  • It doesn't depend of only your computer/connexion. That means we can have that kind of situation :

    • A can connect to D
    • B can connect to D
    • C can't connect to D
    • C can connect to B

    People can connect to D, so the D configuration should be ok. But C can't ! But it's not the fault of C, because he can connect to B..


So everything we know now is that it's something that depends only on the pairs.. and it's not even symetric.

Now, about who can connect to who. So far, that's what I know :

  • U = Unreal_2k7
  • W = Wrob3l
  • L = LustVanGoth
  • O = Oettmane
  • P = Potterman28wxcv


Unreal_2k7 :

  • Can be connected to P,W
  • Need additional informations for : L,O
  • Has opened his 11555 port


LustVanGoth :

  • Can be connected to W,O
  • Need additional informations for : U,P
  • 11555 port open


Wrob3l :

  • Can't be connected to P,L,O
  • Need additional informations for : U
  • 11555 port ?


Oettmane

  • Can't be connected to : P,W
  • Need additional informations for : U,L
  • 11555 port ?


Potterman28wxcv

  • Can be connected to : U,W,L
  • Can't be connected to : O
  • Has opened his 11555 port


If you could complete your section by posting that would be cool, to try to know exactly how it works..

This thread could be very useful altough it look s like it's a varying situation depending on factors that are outside our control. I remember i wasn't able to connect to potterman but after a few minutes (and no configuration change at all) i was able again. Same happened the other way around.

Regarding my information: i think that a week ago (2nd march 2014) lust van goth had been hosting a game and i was able to join his lobby.
Still not had a chance to try with Oettmane.

Not that Sunday, because I couldn't be there, but the next Sunday, I will try desactivating entirely my firewall for the night, so everyone can join me. I'll see if it "fixes" the problem. If it does, then we will be sure that it's all about rejecting some connexions.

Well, the problem is way too complex to be solved. Let's just try with what we have ; so far, I know it seems to work well with Wrob3l and Unreal.2k7.

It used to work well with me also, but since something that i can't explain, i can't host anymore.

You are no longer the True Host. Dun dun duuuuun!

On Topic: the True Host is a definition given to people that are able to host a game with everyone successfully connecting.
