I don't get it...  

The standard Rollcage launcher limits the resolution options to 1280 x 1024.
You can make Rollcage run at higher resolutions by renaming the .exe, but that causes the game to crash after every race.

I'm currently making a guide on how to get Rollcage working at 1080p without the crashes and with music (when using a CD image, 'cause the music does already play if you use an original Rollcage disc).

He means that in your main Rollcage folder, you go in Direct3D folder, you rename the Rollcage.exe to thenameyouwant.exe (trololol.exe works great ; tested and approved !), and then you can play in 1080p

Thanks for help. I managed to solve the problem with 1080p, but only on a different version of the game. It is a pity that at the end game crashes.

The AI takes shortcuts as well on Expert mode!

In Youtube clip 51 second is this a Fractal Design R2?

*Windows* itself limits the resolution selection exposed by DirectDraw if the exe is called rollcage.exe. This surprised me greatly when I came across it the other day as there really is no reason for it to do so. Both problems have been rectified in the following project:
